Saturday's Braves Report: Sanchez sizzles in win; Acuna sits; revisiting Friday; double minor-league update
Bats awaken, Sanchez turns in quality start
Anibal Sanchez went into the seventh with a two-hitter and Atlanta’s offense made the superb start stand with a 5-1 win.
After a run of games in which Atlanta starts found trouble early, Sanchez cruised to an eight-strikeout, one-walk performance, leaving with two outs in the seventh – after getting popped on the hip by a hit - having thrown only 82 pitchers.
Dan Winkler took over and finished the inning. Arodys Vizcaino did the eighth and A.J. Minter the ninth. Sanchez improved to 4-2.
Atlanta scored two in the first, and Milwaukee got one back in the seventh
But the Braves got a cushion with three in the eighth. Ozzie Albies singled, and triples from Freddie Freeman and Nick Markakis followed.
Ryan Flaherty added a pinch-hit RBI single for a 5-1 lead.
The win broke the Braves’ four-game losing streak, their longest of the season.
Freddie Freeman had three hits and Albies two.
