The waiting game is over for some Central Georgia teams, the playoff waiting game continues for others (GHSA pairings so far, GIAA update)

          Some Central Georgia high school football teams can start planning, some have to wait, and some are sweating things out.

          The GHSA is likely to have some brackets finished at some point Saturday with the classifications going by postseason rankings expected to be released Sunday at 4 p.m., as per the GHSA.

          The GHSA has this week off and starts the postseason on Thursday, Nov. 13 and Friday, Nov. 14.

          The GIAA started Thursday and Friday, but hasn’t updated the brackets yet.

          The GHSA posted on social media Friday night that brackets for 6A, 5A, 4A, and A/II would be posted at 11 p.m., but some games were just finishing, and only some teams were listed in their respective slots in the brackets by the end of the night.

          Brackets for those classes were still incomplete as of 1 p.m. Saturday, even though in many cases seeding has clearly been determined. The Sports Report is filling in those gaps involving Central Georgia teams.

          Jones County in 4A, and Crawford County and Hancock Central in A/II both fell by the wayside in their last games, and fell out of the playoff picture.

          The Greyhounds are tied for fifth with Eagle’s Landing at 5-4, thanks to the Golden Eagles’ 30-24 win last week against Jones County.

          Hancock Central and Glascock County played Friday night fo the final spot in 5-A/II, and the Bulldogs fell 41-22. Crawford County and Chattahoochee County were in the same situation Thursday, and the Eagles lost 28-21.

          Before Friday night’s action had been completed, the GHSA again pulled the postseason rankings from its website, so nobody can start to plan at until Sunday when they’re finalized as the association makes sure all the information – which must be submitted by coaches after each game on MaxPreps, a tenuous proposition – is correct and all the ratings are accurate.
