Macon 7, Forest City 2
Macon took care of business and took care of Forest City in the completion of the finale in the Coastal Plain West Division finale.
Macon led 6-1 when weather stopped the game on Thursday. The Bacon added 1 in the seventh and Forest City scraped in 1 in the ninth.
Charles Cunningham’s single brought in Max Prozny with a two-out run for Macon in the seventh. Forest City put together two singles followed by an error for a run in the ninth.
The Bacon took a 3-1 lead after 3 Thursday and doubled it with 3 in the fifth. Seth Alford reached on an error and stole second, now with two outs. Nolan Richardson and Stephen Jordan followed with singles for a run.
Two runs then came in on Max Prozny’s single to left and an ensuing throwing error.
Richardson, Jordan and Trey Babbitt carry two-hit games into the conclusion. Relief pitcher Jax Lewis has 5 strikeouts and no walks through 2.2 innings.
Weather then stopped Thursday’s action, and cut down on a day of rest for the winner. Macon will host Wilmington – which beat Morehead City 9-8 and 6-4 – on Saturday at 7 p.m. in the championship series opener, the final two games on Sunday and Monday about six and a half hours away in Wilmington, N.C.
