Half a dozen Central Georgia teams at home for first round of volleyball playoffs

The first round of the GHSA volleyball playoffs are set, and six Central Georgia teams will host, including three from Houston County.
Houston County, Veterans and Perry are at home, the Bears and Warhawks as the top seed from their area and the Panthers the second seed.
Lamar County gets to visit defending Class AA state champ St. Vincent’s, while Taylor County is on the road against Class A champ Calvary Day.
Veterans was the lone area team to make a run last year, beating Grady and Starr’s Mill 3-0 before losing to Ola 3-2 in the championship round at Marietta.
The first round is Wednesday for Classes 5A and 3A with 6A, 4A and A on Thursday. Class AA begins on Oct. 17.
Upson-Lee is hosting a playoff volleyball match for the first time in program history.
