GHSA wrestling: Veterans, Perry, West Laurens, Baldwin among sectional contenders

          Defending state champion Dashawn Farber of Northside and team contenders Veterans, Baldwin, West Laurens and Perry are among the Central Georgia contingent getting going Friday in the GHSA wrestling traditional sectional meets at locations throughout the state.

          The top four in Classes 3A, 2A, and A advance to the state meet, with the top eight in 4A, 5A, 6A, and 7A.

          Competition is Friday and Saturday.

          The state traditional tournament is Feb. 8-10 at the Macon Coliseum. Tickets are $7 for Thursday and $10 for Friday and Saturday, with a three-day pass available for $24.

          FPD in Class A, Section B is the only Central Georgia sectional host. Central Georgia teams will compete at Alexander (6A), Union Grove (5A), Jefferson (4A), Bremen (3A), and Toombs County and Rockmart (2A).

          Veterans and Baldwin qualified 13 wrestlers, with 12 from Perry and West Laurens, 10 from Lamar County. Upson-Lee, Mount de Sales, Houston County, Howard, and Mary Persons have at least eight competitors.
