          Six Central Georgia boys basketball teams won Wednesday to move on to the Final Four, three winning on the road and setting up a big weekend at Fort Valley State.

College tournament update

          Georgia College's women got a strong second half and won on the road 62-53 at Flagler to open the Peach Belt women's tournament

          Morehouse had FVSU's number for the third time this season, taking another close win, 82-75, in the second round of the SIAC tournament in Birmingham, Ala.

 

College Basketball: Georgia suffers crushing Senior Night loss

          So hurt were Georgia's players that head coach Mark Fox sent them home after the 61-60 loss to Texas A&M.

 

College Baseball: Mercer gets going early, beats KSU for fifth straight win

          A first-inning grand slam by Jackson Ware got the Bears going, but Mercer had to hold off Kennesaw State for a 7-5 win at OrthaGeorgia Park.

 

Honor Roll

          Jordan Strawberry and Stephon Jelks earned All-Southern Conference honors Wednesday, on different versions.

          Both made the media's second team and Jelks the coaches' third team.

          Middle Georgia State's TyAsia Grayer, a senior from Rutland, was named to the Southern States Athletic Conference second team.

          She also made the Champions of Character team, and was joined by Kianna Delas and Dexshalyn Polite on the all-academic team.

          Takia Bradberry made the all-freshman team. ...
          CGTC's Fredricka Sheats was named the GCAA women's basketball freshman of the year and all-conference first-team pick, while Schekinah Bimpa was a second-team pick.
