Washington County alum Gray makes USA camp roster

          Central Georgia might just pay a little more attention to national women's basketball, since it'll be familiar with one of the players.

          Washington County alum Allisha Gray was among the 19 players picked to participate in the USA Women's National Team camp later this month in Seattle.

 

 

Teheran finds the zone, leads Braves to win

          Julio Teheran struck out nine, getting sharp after allowing a first-inning home run for a 2-1 win over Philadelphia.

 

 

Acuna will get call when ready, fine with Snitker

          Ronald Acuna has struggled in the minors so far, and won't get promoted until that changes. Manager Brian Snitker isn't in a hurry.

 

College Women's Golf: Mercer in tie for second at SoCon

          Led by Payton Schanen and Hannah Mae Deems, Mercer settled into a tie for second with Chattanooga at the conference tournament in Hilton Head.

          Schanen and Deems are tied for fifth after two round, and the Bears and Mocs are 22 strokes behind Furman.

 

College Tennis: Mercer heads to conference tournament

          Mercer's men are seed second and the women fifth when the SoCon tennis tournament starts Friday in Chattanooga.

          Both Mercer teams will play Chattanooga. ETSU (men) and Furman (women) are defending champs.

 

 

College Tennis: Middle Georgia State among top teams entering SSAC tournament

          Middle Georgia State's tennis teams are in the top two as the Southern States Athletic Conference tournament starts.

          The women are co-champs with William Carey, both 5-1 in league play. The men are 6-1, behind 7-0 Mobile.

          The tournament starts on Thursday, with MGSU in action on Friday.

          Houston County alum Blake Jackson of Middle Georgia State is the SSAC player of the week. Jackson, a junior third baseman, hit .471 with 3 HRs, 3 doubled and 8 RBIs in the 3-1 week for the Knights.

          A transfer from ABAC after starting out at Georgia Tech, Jackson is hitting .303 with 15 doubles, 8 HRs, and 58 RBI.
