          Shutouts are normal for FPD’s girls soccer team, and playing the No. 1 team in the state championship game didn’t matter much.

Stratford finishes undefeated season properly

          The Stratford boys tennis team got past Paideia 3-1 to win the GHSA Class A boys private tennis title to finish a perfect season. Both Bleckley County teams and Taylor County's girls went for titles.

Braves bring big bats out to bop Miami

          Freddie Freeman had a multi-homer game and six pitchers took care of business in Atlanta's 10-5 win over Miami.

 

College Baseball: Georgia College wins on walk-off in 11

          Matthew Miller singled through the right side with two outs to score Perry alum Cal Gentry with the winning run and a 7-6 win over North Georgia in 11 innings in the Peach Belt Tournament.

          Gentry went 3-for-5, and John Davis 3-for-3 for the Bobcats, who went right back to work for a late game against UNC Pembroke to determine the pool champ.

 

 College Baseball: Mercer blasts Alcorn State

          The game was moved back to a night game, which didn't matter to Mercer.

          The Bears jumped out to a 10-0 lead after three and won 19-1 in 6.5 innings.

          Mercer outscored  Alcorn State (12-37) 46-7 in three games.

College Baseball: Florida clinched SEC top seed with win over Georgia

          A four-HR day led Florida to a 9-3 win over Georgia and to the SEC regular-season title and top seed for the conference tournament.

 

 College Baseball: Georgia Tech

          Connor Thomas threw his third complete game of the season as Georgia Tech knocked off Virginia 5-1.

          Georgia College baseball players logan Mattix and Nate Schmal were named to the College Sports Information Directors Association academic all-district team.

          Mattix has a 3.66 GPA in marketing and Schmal a 3.64 in management informaton systems.

          Georgia College's Holland Coursey and Caroline Snider (Brentwood) have been picked for the National Fastpitch Coaches Association's All-Southeast softball team, Coursey on the first team and Snider on the second. ...
