Wednesday's Daily News 'n Notes: Braves on top, Fagan officially a Bulldog, GHSA battles injunction, signings, and Honor Roll

Wednesday's Central Georgia - and of interest to Central Georgia - news and notes, compiled from staff reports, email reports, the web, and social media.
Braves thump Mets to take first in division
Sean Newcombe was on point pitching and the offense was on point as Atlanta beat the New York Mets 7-0 to take over sole possession of first in the NL East.
Atlanta improved to 18-11, the second-best record in the NL, and 10-7 on the road.
The Mets’ Todd Frazier was none too happy with the umpiring.
There’s a September feel to things these days.
Fagan signs on UGA dotted line
Upson-Lee standout Tye Fagan wasted little time after committing with Georgia to signing with Georgia.
He did that on Wednesday, two days after announcing his plans.
“We are truly excited to be adding Tye Fagan and honored that he chose to be our first commitment as we embark on building our UGA basketball program,” head coach Tom Crean said in a statement. “Tye not only has numerous abilities to impact the game on both ends of the floor and the character and personality to make others around him better, but he also is a pure winner and achiever.
"He will help bring many, many qualities that we value at Georgia. Any time you can add a championship-winning player and person to your program, it’s great.
"But I can’t recall ever signing anyone that was 63-0. That’s unique.”
Crean will be on Thomaston radio station WTGA 101.1-FM Thursday morning between 9 and 10 a.m.
GHSA has to put Class A public baseball playoffs on hold
An injunction because of a pitch count, forfeit, and seedings forced the GHSA to postpone the second round of the Class A public baseball playoffs.
Taylor County will have to wait, but the private schools will play as per scheduled.
