Berrien 13, Dodge County 12; Berrien 5, Dodge County 4

The Indians couldn't have suffered much more heartbreak, losing a slugfest and then a normal game, both by a run.

Cook 11, Rutland 0; Cook 10, Rutland 0

Elbert County 11, Lamar County 9; Elbert County 5, Lamar County 1

Lamar County tied the opener at 9 with 5 in the top of the fifth, but Elbert County retook the lead with 2 in the bottom half and held on. Caleb Thompson went 3-for-5 with 4 RBI for the Trojans in the opener.

FPD 5, Calvary Day 2; FPD 9, Calvary Day 1

The Vikings advanced to the Elite 8 for the first time since 2013. FPD scored 4 in the first inning of the opener, led by Ryan Jones' 2 hits and 6 efficient innings from Noah Takac and a clinching seventh from Garrett West. The Vikings put the nightcap away with 6 in the fourth. A bases-loaded hit by pitch got the inning going, and Gavin Bloodworth added a 3-run double to highlight the inning. Bloodworth drove in 4 runs on 3 hits and West 2 runs on 2 hits. Tyler Mimbs went the distance for the win.

Houston County 4, Heritage 1; Houston County 1, Heritage 0, 10 inn.

Heritage had 5 errors, so 3 of the Bears' 4 runs in the opener were unearned, Houston County stranding 9 runners. Cam Jones fanned 7 with 2 walks in the complete-game win. Logan Morris drove in 2 of Houston County's runs. In the nightcap, the Bears got 2 in the top of the seventh, runs coming in on a wild pitch third strike and then a bases-loaded walk. Heritage got a 2-out walk in the bottom of the seventh, but that was it. Near-perfect small-ball play won the second game. Dillon Toms singled, Connor Martin sacrificed him to second, and Jacob Profit brought him in with a single to left to win the game. Chandler Dawson struck out 7 with 2 walks in 7 innings, and Bryant Rowell went the final 3. Heritage pitchers fanned 8 with no walks, and the hosts stranded 10 in the nightcap.

Tattnall 13, Brookstone 2; Tattnall 3, Brookstone 2

The Trojans set the tone for the day with, well, all of their runs in the first inning of the opener. Logan Fink and Trey Ham each had a homer and double in the first inning, and the Trojans got other run-scoring extra-base hits from Dawson Brown and Luke Laskey . Fink and Ham had 2 hits and 4 RBI each, while Luke Laskey drove in 4 on 2 hits - including a first-inning triple - and Brown 2 on 1. Laskey fanned 7 and walked 1 in 5 innings. The Trojans trailed 2-1 after five, but scored 2 in the sixth and held on. Tattnall scored in the sixth courtesy of a hit batter, sacrifice and error, fielder's choice grounder, RBI single by Brown, runner-advancing fly ball, and Brooks Gorman's single to left. Gorman, meanwhile, finished a complete game by retiring the side in order in the bottom of the sixth and seventh, ending with 6Ks and 0 BBs.

West Laurens 7, Eastside 6; West Laurens 3, Eastside 2

Eastside scored 6 in the top of the seventh to take a 6-4 lead, only for the Raiders to score 3 in the bottom half, the game-winner coming Bradey Wilson's single to center to bring in Guy Anderberg for the win. Anderberg drove in the first 2 runs of the frame with a double to left. Anderberg, EJ Holmes, and Jacob Floyd had 2-hit openers for the Raiders, Wade Brantley and Floyd handling the pitching. In the nightcap, the Raiders scored 2 in the top of the seventh and held Eastside to 1 in the bottom half to survive. Both came in on a single by EJ Holmes to center. Starter Nolan Daniel got the third out in the bottom half with the bases loaded. Daniel had 2 hits and Holmes 2 RBI in the second game.

Whitewater 15, Veterans 0; Veterans 10, Whitewater 6

The hosts were close through 4 innings, down 3-0, but Whitewater came up with 6 runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Veterans was held to only 2 hits in the opener. The Warhawks' offense awakened in the nightcap, in which the teams combined for 10 errors, 6 by the Warhawks, who gave up 5 unearned runs. Veterans took a 6-1 lead after 2, watched Whitewater get some offense going and pull within 8-4. Jacob Pierce had 2 hits and 2 RBI for the Warhawks, who scored on only 7 hits. Cole Hooks was able to hold Whitewater to only one run in the bottom of the seventh.
