Duke wins two, stuns Georgia at home
Well, Duke ruined a homecoming of sorts when it beat Georgia twice in the NCAA Regional in Athens. Texas Tech and Veterans’ alum Gabe Holt would’ve come to town, joining Houston County's Tony Locey on the Bulldogs for a county reunion.
Now, Duke heads to Lubbock after a historic weekend in Athens, ending a still-quality season for the Bulldogs.

Tattnall twosome tops all-state team, Central Georgia well-repped in different classes

Draft starts: Bart goes No. 2, Braves take pitcher
The MLB draft started Monday night, and there weren’t many early surprises regarding state prospects, with the No. 2 to pick as expected.
Central Georgians are keeping an eye on the draft, with three in particular on the clock Tuesday and perhaps early Wednesday.

A pair with Central Georgia connections – one high school and one college – are on the ballot for the College Football Hall of Fame, along with a Bulldog and a pair of Yellow Jackets.

Braves have rough start to open road trip
Julio Teheran gave up three homers and left with a right thumb contusion in Atlanta's 11-4 loss at San Diego.
The Padres score seven in the fifth to take control and expand on a 3-2 lead. Nick Markakis and Charlie Culberson had two hits each for Atlanta, which went through five pitchers in eight innings.
In other news, the AJC reports Mike Soroka has two rehab starts left.
Macon loses second straight game
Forest City beat Macon 4-3 in Coastal Plain League baseball to fall to 2-2 while Forest City improved to 3-2. Macon visits Savannah Tuesday night.
