In The Sports Report

You’re looking for how Central Georgians did in the GHSA state wrestling tournament?

Look nowhere else. It’s only here, at The Sports Report, in This Week’s Coverage, with three days of coverage from listing all the qualifiers to how the area kids did to who won championships on Saturday.

Nowhere else in this area had anywhere near that much. The state wrestling wasn’t acknowledged by The Paper.

You’re looking for more than a few scores and high school basketball highlights?

Look nowhere else but The Sports Report for among the most complete region tournament collections in the state for a geographical region and some highlights. This Week’s Coverage.

No mention of high school basketball for days in The Paper, which did finally note Susie Gardner becoming the Mercer women’s basketball program’s winningest coach about two weeks after Gardner became the Mercer women’s basketball program’s winningest coach.

You’re looking for what happened Saturday for Mercer, Georgia College, Fort Valley State and Middle Georgia State?

This is the place where you get more than scores, non-contextual highlights, sound effects and sound bites, a steering to details of how the Bears, Bobcats, Wildcats and Knights did.

Weather

Pretty simple, no collection of radars and maps and dissection. Warm and wet. High near 70, chance of precip between 80-100 percent. About the same, less rain, at night, low in the 60s.

In The Sports Report

It’s the only media place in Central Georgia with plenty of high school hoops scores, the full collection of area region tournaments.

It’s the only media place in Central Georgia with any wrestling at all, let alone every single Central Georgia wrestlers’ results through the first two days of the GHSA state meet, preceded by who qualified and their record.

Conversely, the region’s former Daily Paper of Note has not a word on region basketball tournaments or state wrestling, or much else going on in Central Georgia. But if you like the Olympics … Information for which is, well, available all over the place, then you can go to the former Daily Paper of Note.

Whereas, The Sports Report of Central Georgia … Nope, we’re not a local media entity giving you no local.

Coming Saturday: Upson-Lee’s dispatching of Mary Persons wasn’t unlike its previous dispatchings: impressive. Also, Central Georgia’s top high school hoops scoreboard and catching up on area college action, like Georgia College baseball. Catching up on Reading/Viewing Material comes Saturday around lunchtime.

And feel free to review what else has been submitted this week to inform and entertain Central Georgia.

Plus, pass the word. There is local sports coverage in Central Georgia.

Note to Central Georgia high school basketball coaches and stat folks

Who won Friday?

The No. 22 Georgia College baseball team came up huge Friday, knocking off No. 2 Tampa 3-2 on the road with some ninth-inning heroics from Brendan Holler.

And Middle Georgia State split a doubleheader with visiting Georgetown (not the D.C. one), losing 2-0 and winning 4-1. They play again at noon Saturday.

The men got a 3-pointer from freshman Justin Cave to force overtime, but the Lakers did better in the extra period for an 86-80 win.
