Bacon get win on the road

          Macon got all it needed in the third inning en route to a 4-1 win at Lexington County in Coastal Plain action.

          The Bacon doubled up the Blowfish 10-5 in hits, led by Riley King’s 3-for-5 night, plus Brandon Michie’s three-RBI game on a 2-for-5 line. Cal Gentry (Perry/Georgia College) added two hits.

          Trevor Damron went five innings for the win, with eight strikeouts and three walks. On Yarbrough, Isaac Hale, and Patrick Orlando finished the game.

 

Northside’s Said named county teacher of the year

          Sam Said is a busy man once classes are done.

          He’s the head soccer coach at Northside, and an assistant football coach.

          But his priorities are strongest during the day as a math teacher. And he’s pretty good at it, earning Houston County Teacher of the Year honors on Thursday.

Honor Roll

        Three Georgia College women's tennis players were named to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association scholar-athlete list for 2018.

         Jena Kelly, Kristen Jones, and Emma Niemi each earned the awards given to varsity letterwinners with two semesters at current school and at least a 3.50 GPA for the 2017-18 school year.

         It’s the fourth honor on the list for Jones and the second for Kelly and Niemi. …

       Georgia College men’s basketball senior Isaac Thomas  has made the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) released its 2017-18 NABC Honors Court for academic achievement.

          A minimum 3.2 GPA is required for qualification.

          Thomas is an accounting major who also has earned all-district academic honors.
