The Braves Report is up: Gausman has nice debut in loss, and more.
Macon apparently in the Coastal playoffs
The good news is that Macon made the Coastal Plain League playoffs. The bad news is the Bacon play Savannah.
The 7:05 p.m. game Sunday is in Savannah, according to a few unofficial social media posts.
Neither the Bacon website or Twitter account acknowledged what happened with Saturday’s scheduled game at Lexington County.
Neither did the Lexington County twitter feed or website, or the league website. The game had been scrubbed late Saturady from the league’s listing for each team’s games, but all year, cancelled and postponed games stayed listed.
Apparently, it was canceled because of weather. The Blowfish Twitter feed had a few in-game updates, the final one at 7:25 p.m. with the Blowfish taking a 2-0 lead. There was nothing after that.
Despite some spots being clinched awhile ago, the Coastal Plain League never updated its playoff page on its website, not giving any general playoff scenarios, so few knew details until Saturday night.
And the playoffs start Sunday. The league still hadn’t updated its website with any playoff information past midnight. The Bacon’s website after midnight had no updated information, not even acknowledging the playoff spot, and hadn’t been updated for a few days.
Once the Macon game was called, the scenario fell to the Savannah-Florence game. Savannah eliminated Florence with a 2-1 win.
Savannah won both halves in the division, so Macon as the second-place team gets a spot. The Bacon are 22-25, Florence finished 22-26.
The first round of the playoffs is single elimination. Savannah has beaten Macon six straight times.
United get stuck in tie with Toronto
Atlanta made some lineup tweaks, but could only manage a 2-2 draw with reigning MLS Cup champ Toronto.
