Thursday’s high school menu is fuller than anywhere else
As always, you can find more results and info here than anywhere else, scores and details, in the Scoreboard. Alas, not much right now, but the postseason results and schedule for Central Georgia are in one spot, as always: The Sports Report.
There are the state h.s. football polls and a roundup on the Central Georgia teams. There is the list of predictions by the Maxwell Ratings. And The Sports Report’s weekly predictions – don’t get testy, we’re doing pretty good – are up.
Coming Friday morning, preview capsules on the top games of the week and the full schedule.
Go back and revisit prep stuff for the week, including an early look at some region races and some notes in the Monday Afternoon Quarterback, the top 20 Central Georgia teams and their statewide ranking, as per the Maxwell ratings.
Georgia Southern survives trip to Texas State
The Eagles were pretty solid favorites, around 18 points against a program in trouble, and Georgia Southern held on for a 15-13 road win at Texas State.
A surprise, Georgia Southern had to successfully defend a two-point conversion try late to hold on for the Sun Belt win and improve to 5-1 overall and 3-0 in SBC play.
Texas State scored with 2:20 left in the game, but the conversion pass was high, and the Bobcats trailed by two. GSU recovered the onside kick and was able to run out the clock.
Peach County grad Sean Freeman had five tackles, and Washington County alum Logan Hunt had two tackles, including a sack.
