Weather pushes Mercer Tennis Classic schedule back

          Saturday will be a busy day for the remaining competitors at the Mercer Tennis Classic.

          Weather has pushed the quarterfinal play to Saturday, and the winners will then play later in the day in the semifinals.

          One of the two seeds left will be gone after the quarterfinal between No. 2 Jessica Pegula and No. 7 Marie Bouzkova, who is ranked 149th and will improve on that after the tournament. The winner faces either qualifier Hailey Baptiste or Veronice Cepede Royg.

          Former champ Kayla Day and Allie Kiick – daughter of former Miami Dolphin great Jim Kiick – are in a quarter, as are Danielle Lao and Varvara Lepchenko.

          The Sunday finals, to be televised on the Tennis Channel, are now set for 12:30 p.m.
