          The rosters for Saturday’s Bibb vs. Houston county public high school all-star game were released Monday morning, with plenty of A-list names on both teams.

Former Mercer men’s BKB assistant suffers stroke

          Jarred Merrill spent several seasons alongside Bob Hoffman on the Mercer men’s basketball bench.

          When Hoffman lost his job last spring, Merrill was gone, to0, landing as head coach at Coker College in Hartsville, S.C., in between Columbia and Florence.

          Merrill suffered a stroke on Dec. 8 just before a game at College of Charleston. He is at the Medical University of South Carolina.

          A GoFundMe page has been started.

 

Honor Roll/Alumni Update

          Another two teams, more honors for John Milledge alum Harrison Bryant of Florida Atlantic.

          The senior tight end was named the AP All-America first team on Monday, joining the likes of Heisman winner Joe Burrow, Wisconsin running back Jonathan Taylor, and LSU receiver Ja’Marr Chase.

And he was named to ESPN’s All-America team. …

          Georgia College’s Wesley Simpson is the Peach Belt men’s basketball player of the week.

          Mercer’s Leo Toledo Jr. was named an All-South region student-athlete by the United Soccer Coaches.
