UGA's Smart, awards and honorees on tap for Macon TD Club finale
Nearly seven weeks removed from the Sugar Bowl and about a month before spring practice begins, Georgia head football coach Kirby Smart will be in Macon.
Smart is the featured speaker at the Macon Touchdown Club’s year-end jamboree, held at Methodist Home For Children and Youth on Pierce Avenue.
Tickets are $40 and must be purchased in advance at U Park Em U Sell Em, located at 3306 Vineville Ave. Payment is in cash or check only. For information, contact Russell Deese at 478-550-0524.
Travon Walker of Upson-Lee, a Georgia signee, is the Elmo Richardson state player of the year. Lee County’s Dean Fabrizio, a former assistant at Peach County, is the state coach of the year.
Assorted All-Central Georgia and all-state selections are on the club’s “super seven” list of underclassmen, as well as local honorees.
The club also gives out scholarship money from its fund-raising efforts, which include a Boston butts sale in the fall and the Middle Georgia Kickoff Classic.
