After all, it’s where his career began, and where he met his wife. Saturday, it was where he joined his dad in the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame.

And the emotions got to the veteran broadcaster, as they did to Washington County’s Takeo Spikes, another of the eight who made up the Class of 2019.

Northeast grad Brenda Cliette-Thomas could hardly contain her enthusiasm, and Mark Teixeira is ready for another trip to Macon, so enjoyable have his two trips been.

A sold-out crowd of about 700 attended this year’s ceremony at the Macon City Auditorium Auditorium for Johnson, Spikes, Cliette-Thomas, Gary Stokan, Calvin Johnson, Mark Teixeira, Ben Zambiasi and T. McFerrin.

Being inducted into the Hall less than an hour from home meant a lot to Spikes.
