Sunday's Central Georgia Daily News 'n Notes: The Braves Report (OK, read about the All-Star stuff at least); Mercer baseball, Russell Henley, NBA/Hawks, and more

Sunday's Central Georgia - and of interest to Central Georgia - news and notes, compiled from staff reports, email reports, the web, and social media.
Braves Report
The bullpen duo of Sean Newcomb and A.J. Minter coughed up five runs in less than an inning – in eight batters, between the two – and five runs wasn’t enough as the Mets’ five-run eighth keyed an 8-5 win.
Max Fried left after only five innings and 81 pitches, having already given up three runs on eight hits with six strikeouts and a walk. Chad Sobotka threw two sharp innings before things fell apart.
Atlanta’s offense went 3-for-14 with runners in scoring position, while the Mets were 5 for 13.
Ronald Acuna and Dansby Swanson had three hits and Freddie Freeman two. That trio combined for two runs in the top of the seventh on a single followed by two doubles.

Henley misses cut in Rocket Mortgage
Maconite Russell Henley shot a 1-under 143 for the first two rounds, but the second-round 75 put him far below the cut line at the Rocket Mortage Classic in Detroit.
Henley was in good company, missing the cut with Mike Weir, Brian Harman, Jason Dufner, Kevin Tway, Gary Woodland, Dustin Johnson, and Bubba Watson, among others.
Nate Lashley ran away with the tournament, shooting a 263 to win by six strokes over Doc Redman.
Henley has missed three straight cuts after finishing tied for 35th in the AT&T Byron Nelson Classic in mid-May.
Next on the PGA schedule is the 3M Open in Blaine, Minn., starting Thursday, with the John Deere Classic in Illinois a week later.
