Central Georgians honored by Georgia Dugout Club
Former FPD baseball and softball coach Jimmy Turner was added officially over the weekend to the Georgia Dugout Club Hall of Fame at a ceremony in Marietta.
He was joined by Columbus State head coach Greg Appleton, Marist head coach Mike Strickland, Dennis Jordan of North Paulding, Toombs County’s Steve Janousek, and the late Dennis Payne of the GHSA and longtime umpire.
The group was voted into the hall back in September, with the ceremony over the weekend as part of a convention.
Tattnall’s Joey Hiller was the Class A Private Coach of the Year and Brooks Gorman player of the year.
Jones County’s Jason Page was cited for passing the 100-win mark and Howard’s Danny Slaughter the 300-win mark.
