Thursday's Daily News 'n Notes: Mount de Sales nips Tattnall; Jake Scott dies; Falcons-Saints; NFL, CFB, COVID, more

Mount de Sales 24, Tattnall 21

          The turf at Mike Garvin Stadium got stomped on pretty good with the Trojans and Cavs teaming for 501 yards on the ground. Tattnall actually outpassed MdS, going 6 for 13 for 128 yards to 2 for 4 for 90 for the hosts. A’Khori Jones ran 27 times for 227 yards and two touchdowns for Mount de Sales, Kobe Butts adding two touchdowns on six carries. Hunter Alexander did the passing for Tattnall, adding 83 yards and a touchdown on eight carries. Butts’ 4-yard score was countered by Alexander’s 38-yarder almost three minutes later for a 7-all tie after one. Jones went in from 11 yards out with 11 seconds left in the first half, and Demario Wilmore tied it back up for Tattnall 80 seconds into the third quarter. A Butts 1-yarder two minutes later gave MdS the lead for good, and the difference in the game came with a minute left in the third quarter on John Wagner’s 36 yard field goal. The Trojans got within three on Alexander’s 57-yard pass to Zavion Hardy with 6:23 left in the game.
