Markakis goes off
The Brave is never a quote machine, but he didn’t hold back with his thoughts on the Astros and the lack of punishment, as well as the unofficial punishment he’d like to see.

Dodgers sign Jones County’s Gore
Terrance Gore has a new employer.
The Los Angeles Dodgers announced Monday that they signed Gore to a minor-league contract, and he’s en route to spring training.
The Jones County alum finished last season in the New York Yankees minor-league system after being released by Kansas City, his second stint with the Royals.
The Yankees didn’t add him to the 40-man roster and he became a free agent after the season.
Gore has 51 at-bats in the majors, with 15 hits and 18 strikeouts. His 40 steals in 100 games is the speed that is attractive to teams as a role player, but he’ll need to become more effective offensively to stick around.
From MLBtraderumors.com: “While Gore’s speed is tantalizing, his lack of Triple-A production is glaring; in 181 games there, he’s managed only a .213/.307/.261 slash line.”
Semifinalists set for GHSA dunk and 3-point contests
Veterans’ Jaylyn Williams is the lone Central Georgian still alive in the GHSA new high school basketball contests.
Williams is one of eight semifinalists in the dunk contest, joined by Micah Bell (Chapel Hill); Xavier "Zay" Brantley (Montgomery); Oliver Gerard (Alcovy); DeMariontay Hall (Booker T. Washington); Ja' Queze Kirby (Jeff Davis); Cam Porter (Lafayette); Grant Potera (River Ridge).
The four 3-point girls semifinalists: Trinity Jones of Americus Sumter, Jashiya Jones of Vidalia, Emily Acampora of Harrison, and Leah Turner of Griffin.
The finals of the dunk contest will be on March 7 between the girls’ 7A final and boys 6A final. The 3-point finals are on March 6 after the AAASP wheelchair championship.
