COVID-19: high school year is over
A day after Gov. Kemp closed the public schools for the year, the GHSA made it official that the sports year was over as well.
As of 7 p.m. Thursday, Georgia has 5,444 confirmed cases, with 1,129 hospitalized and 176 deaths. According to www.covidtracking.com, just short of 23,000 tests have been administered among Georgia’s 10 million residents.

Valdosta’s new head coach iiiiiis …
Still out there somewhere.
The Valdosta school board met Thursday with the football coach on the agenda. The meeting was streamed on Zoom, but with only 100 slots for observers.
And the search goes on, the board tabled voting on a new head coach.
In the mix is a lawsuit by Leah Rodemaker, wife of fired head coach Alan Rodemaker, charging racism by the board’s surprising decision back in late January that was upheld by the same vote two weeks later.
Rush Propst, having had his teach certificate restored last month while also leaving a job at a new academy in Alabama after eight weeks, is a highly discussed candidate.

Offensive coordinator Josh Crawford has reportedly withdrawn as a candidate. Other candidates and/or interviewees, according to assorted media reports: Kareem Reid of Griffin, Dean Fabrizio of Lee County, Brooks County’s Maurice Freeman, and coaches from Nevada, South Carolina and Florida, among other states.
With school shutdown, distance guidelines in place, and nothing changing for the foreseeable future, plus a lawsuit, the drama will drag on.
