The GHSA released Monday evening an “action plan for failed screening or positive COIVD-19” tests as well as game and event guidance.

They came after a GHSA meeting with the Department of Public Health. All items are “strongly recommended.”

The “plan for failed screening” or positive tests are pretty much compilations of all normal guidelines and suggestions of the past several months, ranging from masks, what level of COVID has been detected, consultation with medical personnel and health-care providers.

As for game days, the GHSA is leaving screening and attendance maximums up to schools and school systems, after fulfilling state requirements in place at the time.

Masks needn’t be worn in competition, but should be while riding to and from a venue, and while on the sidelines and not competing. Schools need a plan to supervise when an athlete takes off a mask to get on the field or court.

Teams should be fully staffed and equipped for events, to include all normal COVID-related items. It encourages more seating on the sidelines.

“It is highly recommended” that fans always wear a facemask/covering and employ distancing standards.

Concessions must follow state guidelines for restaurants and bars, with workers wearing masks and gloves.

The plan remains for football to start on Sept. 4.
