Henley moves on to BMW Championship
The day started with a bogey, and was a roller coaster from then on.
Russell Henley then birdied four holes on his first nine, and traded birdies and bogeys in the second nine to finish three under for the day and five under for the Northern Trust tournament.
He finished in a tie for 56th, a jump of 12 spots from the third round. With a FedExCup ranking of 50, he’s onward to the BMW Championship, starting Thursday.
Tony Finau ended a long drought to win.
In his last six tournaments, starting with the U.S. open, Henley has finished under par in four, even in one and over (two) in the other. In that span, he is 38 shots under par, with 15 rounds of 70 or better.
After tying for eighth in last year’s Northern Trust, Henley finished tied for 25th in the BMW, but was ranked 101st, so he didn’t advance to the Tour Championship.
