J.R. Fordham struck out eight with two walks in a five-inning no-hitter. Caleb Senters went 3 for 3 with three RBI and Dawson Chapman 2 for 3 with three RBI, Ethan Savan also 3 for 3 with three runs and Buck Hill with two hits and three RBI. Senters keyed the nightcap with three hits, two RBI and two runs. Chapman, Fordham, and Eli Mullis had two hits each, Matthew Bland with three RBI. Mullis struck out five in five innings. The Royals took the region title with the sweep.
Dodge County 12, Northeast 2; Dodge County 18, Southwest 3
Riley Williams’ 3-for-4 game with four RBI led Dodge County, which outhit Northeast 13-3. Noah Wahl went 3 for 3 with two RBI, Tye Moore and Braylon Mincey adding two hits each. Moore and Wahl teamed for 10 strikeouts in a three-hitter. The Indians had a 16-1 hit margin in the second game. Moore and Jason Lann had three hits each, with two each from Trase Moore, Mincey, and Joel Joiner.
Howard 5, Spalding 2
Trevor Grims and Nate Campbell each had two hits for Howard, aided by five errors and four unearned runs.
Mary Persons 11, Upson-Lee 10
Upson-Lee thought a four-run seventh for a 10-8 lead was going to give the Knights a big road win in Forsyth, but Mary Persons tied it after three straight singles, a hit batter, and error, then got the one-out walk-off single to center from Tristan Hunt for the win, despite four errors. Hunt and Gage Hopper had three-hit nights for the Bulldogs, Hunt with three RBI and Hopper with two. Eric Snow, Brady Christman, Thomas Brooks, and Ryan Jenkins added two hits each, Snow with a game-tying homer. Evan Helms went 3 for 3 for Upson-Lee, Beau Ellington and T Jones with two hits each.
Mount de Sales 9, Stratford 4
Jordan Green, Jared Diaz, and Drew Senn had two hits each, Senn with two RBI, to lead Mount de Sales. Garrett Lang and Micah Takac had two hits each for the Eagles.
Northside 7, Rutland 5
Four pitchers battled for the Eagles’ win, striking out eight – five from starter Ryan Day – with a walk. Trey Lawson had three hits, with two from Fisher Hopkins, Casen Summerday, and Gabe Melvine for Rutland, which outhit Northside 12-6.
Peach County 12, Sumter County 0
A seven-run fifth shortened the game, a combo five-inning no-hitter from Michael Kovitch and Aden New. Bryce Harrelson and Andrew Cliett had two hits each for the Trojans, Harrelson, Cliett, Cameron Griggs, and Alex Christian two RBI each.
Perry 5, West Laurens 4, 8 inn; West Laurens 4, Perry 1
Five pitches, two outs, and a ninth inning seemed certain. But Carson Bryant drilled a 1-0 pitch over the wall in left for a walk-off win for the host Panthers. THe Raiders scored two and Panthers three in the sixth, Perry tying it on an error on the play that ended up being the third out. Bryant had two of Perry’s six hits, and struck out 10 against three walks in 5.2 innings.. William Kellam had two of West Laurens’ six hits. The Raiders got it back in the nightcap on Floyd’s 11-strikeout, two-walk five-hitter. Jace Thompson had two hits and Matthew Thigpen two RBI.
Veterans 3, Wayne County 0
Gavin Price was on point with a complete-game shutout, striking out three and walking three. Keegan McLemore and Jarrett Pierce had two hits apiece for the Warhawks.
Westfield 4, ACE 1
The GISA Hornets picked up a win over the host GHSA Gryphons, thanks to a two-run third and sixth, holding ACE scoreless until the seventh. The teams managed only nine hits, the Gryphons with a one-hit edge. Zane Childree fanned six with two walks and four hits in six innings, Damon Sanders closing it.
