Braves start preseason tour in Macon
The Atlanta Braves will bring the Truist Park experience around the state this spring and summer, starting on March 23 at the Cherry Blossom Festival in Macon.
As per a release, the tour includes “a ‘Pose at the Plate’ experience where fans can step into a replica of Truist Park and pose for their own customizable baseball card. Fans will receive a printout of their baseball card as well as a digital copy to share with family and friends.
“The Braves will also hand out branded swag and items for participating fans. Additionally, the Atlanta Braves will engage in community service projects at select spots throughout Braves Country.”
It’s doubtful any stops will include anybody on the Braves roster.
The season-long tour includes stops in six other Georgia cities other than Atlanta, as well as in Alabama, North Carolina, Tennessee, and South Carolina.

WBKB-Georgia Southern fires Howard, with a winning record
Three straight winning seasons, the program’s first such run since 2007-10 and only third such stretch since the 1990s, wasn’t enough for Anita Howard to keep her job as Georgia Southern’s head women’s basketball coach.
The school announced Tuesday it was letting go the team’s eighth head coach, and fourth this century.
Her 75-71 record ranks her fourth all-time at GSU, and her 53.1 winning percentage ranks sixth.
She lasted one more season than the two most recent head coaches, Chris Vozab (3 years, 23-68) and Kip Drown (4 years, 32-86).
The school deleted the coaches’ link on its website by Wednesday afternoon, thus deleting the bio of Howard as well as assistants Dexter Jenkins, Olivia Gaines, and Chris Godfrey. Jenkins and Gaines were in their first seasons, Godfrey the second.
The Eagles improved each year in Howard’s first four, the first time that’s happened in program history. They were 15-18 and 4-14 in 2023-2024, dropping to 32-46 in Sun Belt play.
She came to Statesboro from Division II Columbus State (Peach Belt), where she went 31-2, 19-10, and 16-13.
