The Bears advanced after a big 4-run first inning and solid 6-hit pitching from A Hutto in an efficient complete game. Alanah McKenzie had 2 hits – including a homer – from atop the lineup, while Kendall Carswell added 2 from the No. 7 spot.
Class 4A
Madison County 4, Perry 3, Perry eliminated
Madison County’s run in the first was the difference, the teams trading 3-run innings in the third (Perry) and fifth (Madison County). The Red Raiders survived 3 errors, and seven Perry baserunners in the final four innings.
Class A/Division II
Clinch County 6, Crawford County 4, Crawford County eliminated
Clinch County took control with a 5-run fourth, only for Crawford County to climb back to with 2 runs with a 3-run fifth. But the Eagles – held to 5 hits - stranded 2 no-outs runners in the sixth and were retired in order in the seventh.
