The Bears stormed out at the plate from the start, led by a 2-hit game from Piper Lambert and 2-RBI outings from Armani Frazier and Kendall Carswell and aided by 7 South Paulding errors and 9 unearned runs. Lambert went 6 innings and allowed 4 hits. Keira Powell went 3 for 4 to lead Houston County’s offense.

A 6-run fourth, keyed by Maddy Kinkade’s 2-run double put Veterans in control. The Warhawks put up another five in the fifth, with a Bella Fendley homer and doubles from Kalleigh Stokes, Braylin Horton, and Kinkade. Kinkade had 3 hits and 3 RBI and Fendley 2 hits and 2 RBI. Alexander got off to a 4-0 lead in the nightcap, with Veterans coming back twice. The Warhawks scored 3 in the bottom of the seventh on Rizzy White’s 2-out 3-run homer, but the rally ended a batter later. Katelyn Haines had 3 of Veterans’ 4 hits.

Victoria Cooper had it going in the circle in the opener, racking up 14 strikeouts in a 2-hitter for the complete-game win. Skyler Searcy went 3 for 4, S Scott adding 2 hits and Emily Hobbs 2 RBI. The Vikings went up 3-0 after 3 in the nightcap and traded 3-run innings in the fifth. Cooper and Summer Searcy teamed for 9 strikeouts. Hobbs and Searcy each had 2 hits, Searcy with a double and triple and Hobbs with 3 RBI.
