Legendary coach Bradley dies
Ronald Bradley, something of a unicorn coach before that word became common, won at basketball and football and baseball, in metro Atlanta and beyond, died Friday at the age of 90.
Bradley spent five years at Trinity Christian in Dublin and Piedmont, where he hired Danny Camp, who spent several years with the Cougars before jobs at Westfield and Stratford before returning to Piedmont as athletics director in 2024.
“Me and Ronald Bradley, a legend,” Camp said in a Central Georgia Sports Report story on his return to Piedmont in 2024.. “It was me and Coach Bradley the first the two years.”
Known more for his basketball prowess, Bradley was head football coach at Trinity Christian from 1989-93 and Piedmont in 1997-98. He also was a longtime head baseball coach
From Bradley’s induction into the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame in 1997:
“Ronald M. Bradley was born in Manchester, and was an outstanding athlete at Avondale High School. He went on to letter in baseball and basketball at the University of Georgia in the 1950s. Bradley coached multiple sports at Newton County High School, Walton Academy, Trinity Christian School, Greater Atlanta Christian School, Loganville High School, and Piedmont Academy.
“He won 24 region championships and 4 state titles, including the 1964 State Crown at Newton County. He had a record of 122-55-6 as a football coach and was 158-60 as a baseball coach. He was recognized by the Atlanta Tipoff Club for having the most victories (1327) in Georgia high school history as a basketball coach.”
