The Warhawks take on South Effingham at 11 a.m. in the loser’s bracket finale, the winner moving on to the 3:30 p.m. championship against Creekview, which sent Veterans to the loser’s bracket with a 12-4 win.
Braylin Horton, Kalleigh Stokes, and Mia Ward teamed for 11 of Veterans’ hits in the first game from the bottom of the lineup. Lassiter led 3-1 after 3, but the Warhawks scored on in the bottom half, then put up 4 in the fifth. Cadence Scott was efficient in the complete-game win, with no strikeouts and 2 walks.
Class AAA
West Laurens 13, Pickens 4; West Laurens 7, Monroe Area 6
The Raiders face Cherokee Bluff at 11 a.m. in the loser’s bracket final, the winner advancing to play undefeated Heritage-Catoosa, which beat West Laurens 3-1 in the second game, at 3:30 p.m.

Victoria Cooper was back at it in the circle, whiffing 11 batters this time in a 5-inning 3-hitter. The Vikings took control with 6 runs in the third, an inning boosted by a multi-run error and doubles from Skyler and Summer Searcy, who had 2 hits each, as did B Hunter. Cooper threw another shutout, allowing 3 hits by Irwin County. Four runs in the second set up the Vikings, helped by 3 errors. Cooper struck out 14 this time, with 1 walk. The Vikings battle ECI at 11 a.m. for a crack at Lanier County – a 7-6 winner over the Vikings – in the 3:30 p.m. championship.
