Players from GHSA quarterfinalist Northeast and GIAA Class 4A state champ Stratford are the final Macon Touchdown Club players of the week for the season.
Back: Versatile senior Reginald Glover of Northeast completed 14 of 20 passes for 226 yards and 3 touchdowns to go with 81 yards on 10 carries in the 26-14 playoff win over Swainsboro.
Lineman: Senior linebacker Maddox Whitehead led Stratford’s defense with nine tackles, two for loss, and five sacks plus several quarterback hurries in the Eagles’ 14-7 win over Brookstone for the GIAA Class 4A state title.
UGA’s Dantzler to visit Macon Touchdown Club
Longtime University of Georgia broadcaster Jeff Dantzler is Monday night’s speaker at the Macon Touchdown Club.
The club meets at the Methodist Home for Children and Youth, in the Rumford Center, at 304 Pierce Ave. It starts at 6:30 p.m. with dinner and the program to begin around 7. Admission for non-members is $30.
It’s the final meeting of the season. Up next is the yearly jamboree in February or March with UGA head coach Kirby Smart.
Dantzler has been broadcasting Georgia sports since the early 1990s, beginning with women’s basketball. He’s behind the mic in some form or fashion for football, men’s and women’s basketball, and baseball, also contributing to Bulldawg Illustrated magazine.
