SB-FVSU cruises into SIAC championship

Alumni Update

Former Houston County and Warner Robins tight end Tyler Fromm (Auburn/Georgia Southern) has gotten a mini-camp invite from the New York Giants. The same goes for Warner Robins linebacker Ahmad Walker (Liberty/SMU) by Kansas City.

Former Houston County linebacker Wesley Steiner went from Auburn – where he had a good pro day in March - to Washington State, and was undrafted. But before the draft, he made a career move, to join the coaching staff at Loachapoka High, just west of Auburn.

Nicholas Reeves, son of longtime Central Georgia coach Chris, is transferring from Georgia – where he was a preferred walk-on – to Temple, which is also home to Jones County wideout Tyler Stewart.

Signings

Houston County’s Kam Plummer signed with Middle Georgia State for men’s basketball. Jayden Brown is officially headed to Tuskegee for football. Elan Lopez-Falcon signed to compete in wrestling at Brewton-Parker, where Eric Barrett will compete in track. Caryn Cummings is bound for Brewton-Parker for flag football and track, Bailee Ross to B-P for track as well. Madison Hardrick will compete in track at Hampton.

And the appeal to the GHSA failed

And the head coach – a Bleckley County grad – was released
Jordan Mullis got word on Friday by email that Appling County had fired him and opened up the position. Mullis and school officials declined comment to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Mullis went 42-11, before the 2024 season’s wins were forfeited.
He was promoted from the staff of Rick Tomberlin early in 2021. He had been on the staff at Wayne County, where he also coached baseball. Mullis played baseball at Georgia Southwestern after graduating in 2004 from Bleckley County.

And replaced within a week by Fitzgerald’s Pruitt
          Tucker Pruitt, whose 2024 season ended in a playoff loss at Thompson Stadium to Northeast, is the new head coach at Appling County.
          The 39-year-old has spent more than quarter of his life at Fitzgerald, playing for his father for three seasons and serving as head coach the past eight years, going 82-27 with the school’s first state title since 1948 in 2021.
          His playing and coaching career – except for his senior year at Warner Robins and a few seasons on the Georgia Southern staff - has been in a three-county area in South Georgia: Ben Hill (Fitzgerald), Valdosta State, Lowndes, and Coffee
