Henley regroups in final round
All Russell Henley needed after Friday and Saturday was a decent round, unlike Friday and Saturday.
He kind of got that.
The Stratford grad went from bogey-free on the front nine to bogeying a third of the holes on the back nine, but finished with a 3-under final round of the Truist Championship in Philadelphia.
Henley was done and perhaps headed toward the PGA Championship in Charlotte before the leaders teed off around 2 p.m. He finished tied for 46.
His 278 was 2 under, Henley clipping five shots off his third round. He couldn’t avoid bogeys on 12, 13, and 18, finding roughs and bunkers on all three, twice on 18.
Up next is the PGA Championship in Charlotte at Quail Hollow. He has had a so-so run at Quail Hollow, finishing 71st when it hosted the PGA Championship in 2016-17. He has missed three cuts in seven tries.
Henley finished tied for 10th a year ago in the Wells Fargo, which became this year’s Truist, and finished tied for 23rd at the PGA Championship, at Valhallah in Louisville.
