The soggy weather of the past several few days is likely to be gone – at this still premature point - when the GHSA state golf tournament gets started on Monday.
Twin City Country Club in Tennille is one of 11 courses throughout the state hosting action, with Classes A, AA, and Private all competing there.
Overall, 10 teams and five individuals from Central Georgia qualified.
Both teams from West Laurens advanced, the Raiders boys winning 2-AAA, led by 74s from Braceton Beasley and Brody Graham. West Laurens’ girls were third.
The same goes for ACE Charter (girls first in 1-A/I and boys second) and Hawkinsville (boys first in 2-A/II, girls second)
Team qualifiers: West Laurens, 3A girls and boys; Mary Persons, 3A girls and boys; Dodge County, A/I girls; GMC Prep, A/II boys; Taylor County, A/II girls and boys; Hawkinsville, A/II girls and boys
Individual qualifiers: Cooper Perry, Jones County boys; Reagan Dimsdale, Perry, girls; Vance Hinton, Rutland boys; Madi Grace Simmons, GMC Prep girls; Everett Horne, Lamar County boys.
Horne was the top individual last year in boys A/I with a 144. Simmons was seventh in girls A/II.
Hawkinsville’s girls tied for second, GMC’s boys were fourth.
