A 3-1 Macon lead turned into an 8-3 deficit after Lexington County scored 7 runs in a 2-inning span, the sixth and seventh innings. Macon was blanked from the fourth inning on.

Back on a normal, civilized course, Henley solid
No doubt the players moving from Oakmont to TPC River Highlands saw this week’s course felt warm and fuzzy inside.
Nothing like Oakmont.
First-round scores were nothing like Oakmont, including for Russell Henley, who turned in a steady round of 2 over to settle into a tie for 26th.
Henley and nine others are six shots back of co-leaders Austin Eckroat – ranked 106th entering the weekend – and Scottie Scheffler. U.S. Open champ J.J. Spaun had an early Oakmont hangover and is tied for 63rd in the 71-player field.
There is no cut in this week’s signature event.
Another complete turnaround from last week: a full 70 percent of the field is even or better after a round.
He nailed 22-footer for a birdie on No. 2 and followed with one on No. 3, going from 160 yards to four feet to set it up.
Henley spent the rest of the afternoon just missing on some birdie putts, perhaps leaving three or four more on the course, but avoiding trouble as well.
Henley finished tied for 48th – despite shooting 5 under - last year, his worst Travelers in six made cuts. He has tied for 19th twice, 11th, and sixth, with a tie for 32nd in there.

Former Perry standout Carson Bryant has signed with College of Charleston, transferring from Georgia Southern, where he went 2-1 with a 6.48 ERA in 11 games and 25 innings, striking out 27 with 11 walks. His college career started at ABAC.
