FPD grad Cox gets the call from the Braves
All of a sudden, Austin Cox is passing Atlanta’s career saves leader en route to a return to the majors.
Atlanta dumped Craig Kimbrel Saturday after 14 pitches on Friday and called up the FPD grad and ex Mercer standout on Saturday.
He was 2-1 with a 3.55 ERA, a .224 opponents average, and 18 strikeouts and six walks with Omaha when he was released in early May and quickly signed by Atlanta.
Cox had 10.2 innings in eight games at Gwinnett, with a 4.22 ERA, eight strikeouts and three walks, opponents hitting .279.
