The baseball transfer portal paid off for Auburn, Florida State and a pair of Central Georgians as far as the major-league draft is concerned.
Mary Persons alum Eric Snow went in the sixth round to Toronto, 172nd overall, on Monday, while Houston County grad Gage Harrelson was picked by the Los Angeles Angels in the 16th round, 469th overall.
Snow, a shortstop, transferred from South Florida – where he was the American Athletic Conference’s top defender and a freshman All-American in 2023 and hit .290 in two seasons – to Auburn, and hit .307 with a .403 on-base percentage in 57 games. He scored 54 runs on 66 hits, with eight homers and 34 RBI.
Toronto picked him as a shortstop. At Auburn in 2025, he played third 28 times, shortstop seven times and second base 18 times., though he has played third and short in college with some second base, fielding at a .955 clip in three seasons.
Harrelson started every game last season for Florida State, batting leadoff in all but one game en route to a third-team All-ACC season. He belted a career high five homers, with 10 doubles and 15 steals.
He transferred from Texas Tech, where he played center, moving to right at FSU and improved his stock with stellar defense. He was also a freshman All-American, earning assorted Big 12 honors as well.
Both are expected to accept the pro offers and not return to college.
