Former Jones County coach Chastain appears in court, agrees to plea agreement and repayment to school's touchdown club, avoids jail time

Henley has interesting second round in Memphis

The water went 1 for 2 against Russell Henley.

          And weather won the day.

Henley got out of the water on one hole and took a penalty on another amid a decent round that was stopped when rain delayed and lightning stopped the second round of the FedEx St. Jude Championship Friday in Memphis.

Henley is one of nearly two dozen players in the 69-player field who will finish their second round on Saturday morning, teeing off at 8:30 a.m. Play was called for the day before 5 p.m.

The Stratford grad is 1-over after 12, suffering his lone bogey on No. 11, after a 3-under first round.

It looked a good day was ahead when Henley’s third shot on No. 3 went into the water, just on the edge. He rolled up his pants legs and got in the water, and turned in a dandy chip within 33 feet of the pin, setting up an impressive par on a par-5 579-hard hole.

He reeled of seven straight pars before his tee shot, ironically, was short on the 170-yard par-3 No. 11, and he had to take a penalty stroke, and a drop.

Henley almost saved par, sticking his 87-yard approach a half-foot from the hole for a tap-in  bogey.

Henley was 3 under on the final six holes Thursday.
