The first Central Georgia Sports Report poll of the year doesn’t have much suspense.

The good news is that Division I is getting more competitive and more balanced, more teams likely to be at .500 or better through the midseason. The oddity: Perry is the only Division I team with a losing record, though most teams would be 1-2 with Peach County and Houston County on the road back to back.

And half of Division I has played only two games. But that gap – with Mary Persons, Upson-Lee, and West Laurens on the fringe – for No. 5 is very tight.

Plus, sure, Perry could drop during an off week if any of them turns in a stellar Friday night. And let’s keep an eye on Warner Robins.

Division II will remain pretty familiar, with mild shuffling in a week. But there are some usual prospects who are unlikely to be in the hunt for a spot this season, with Macon County, Tattnall, and Wilkinson County among the teams – 11 of them, all told in the division - still looking for their first win. And all three are underdogs this week.

The top six are pretty steady, and are likely locked in for awhile as long as they play normal, though some interesting GHSA A/I games are coming.
