As expected, suspensions and fines for Southwest, Northeast

Most of the discipline from the GHSA to Northeast and Southwest for their altercation at Thompson Stadium has been handed out and handled.

But the schools are on a ‘severe warning status” for a year and will be in more trouble should they be involved in any similar incidents.

The GHSA suspended four Southwest and three Northeast players for a game and fined the schools $1,500 each for the fight that broke out in the third quarter of their Aug. 29 game.

The players served their suspensions last week, in Southwest’s 48-6 loss to Dublin and Northeast’s 32-0 win over Jefferson County. They’re eligible for this week’s games, Southwest hosting Bleckley County on Thursday and Northeast welcoming Jefferson County on Friday.
