ESPN’s Schlabach opens Macon Touchdown Club season
Author and longtime ESPN writer Mark Schlabach is the first speaker of the season Monday night at the Macon Touchdown Club.
The club meets at the Methodist Home for Children and Youth, in the Rumford Center, at 304 Pierce Ave. It starts at 6:30 p.m. with dinner and the program to begin around 7. Admission for non-members is $30.
Schlabach is a Norcross and Georgia graduate (1996), whose journalism career began at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution where his beats included UGA, the SEC, then the NFL and then NASCAR. He moved on to the Washington Post and covered college football and basketball, and boxing.
He joined ESPN in July 2006. In the past decade plus, he has authored or co-authored books on Bobby Bowden, John Heisman, and several on the Duck Dynasty family, with a number of titles making the New York Times best-seller list.
The married father of three is one of ESPN’s primary golf writers and investigative reporters.
