GMC head coach Manchester to visit Macon TD Club
Head coach Rob Manchester of Georgia Military College junior college is Monday’s speaker at the Macon Touchdown Club.
The club meets at the Methodist Home for Children and Youth, in the Rumford Center, at 304 Pierce Ave. It starts at 6:30 p.m. with dinner, and the program to begin around 7. Admission for non-members is $30.
Dari Nowkhah of ESPN and the SEC Network is next week’s speaker, followed by Jake Fromm.
Manchester is in his sixth as head coach and athletics director.
The Paducah, Ky. Native played at Kentucky and was a letterman from 1992-95, named the program’s top walk-on in 1994.
Manchester’s career got started at Tulane under Tommy Bowden when the Green Wave went 12-0 in 1998, and then returned to Kentucky as a grad assistant on defense.
After the 2002 season at Louisiana Tech, Manchester moved to Milledgeville and joined the GMC staff of Bert Williams as defensive backs coach.
Four seasons later, he was named defensive coordinator and then assistant head coach in 2011. He is
47-15 as head coach, following Saturday’s upset loss to Central Georgia Tech.
Macon TD Club taps a Raider, Seminole, and Greyhound
Back: Senior wideout Tavares Tinsley of Northeast had 6 receptions for 136 yards and a touchdown in the 47-7 win over Pike County.
Lineman: Westside end Thomas Russell recorded 6 tackles, 2 sacks and 2 tackles for loss in his team's 16-8 loss to Upson-Lee.
Special teams: Jones County senior kicker and punter Jacon Watts went 4 of 4 on PAT'S, added a 38-yard field goal,and executed a good onside kick in the Greyhounds’ 51-14 victory over Warner Robins.
