Macon Touchdown Club to welcome new Auburn coach for jamboree
New Auburn head coach Alex Golesh will be the guest speaker next month at the Macon Touchdown Club’s year-end jamboree.
Georgia head coach Kirby Smith has been the regular speaker at the jamboree for several years, but has a scheduling conflict this year.
This year’s event at the Methodist Home for Children and Youth is March 23.
Golesh was hired in late November to replace Hugh Freeze, and become Auburn’s seventh head coach this century.
The 41-year-old native of Russia grew up in New York and Ohio, graduating from Ohio State. He has coached with the Buckeyes, Northern Illinois, Oklahoma State, Toledo, Illinois, Iowa Stae, Central Florida, and Tennessee.
All that led to his first head coaching job, at South Florida. He went 23-15 with the Bulls and won both bowl games.
