Henley solid in first round at Arnold Palmer

Russell Henley and Scottie Scheffler have gotten close in the last year or so.

On the course and off.

The former Ryder Cup teammates are close again, tied for 18th after the opening round of the Arnold Palmer at Bay Hill.

They both shot a 2-under 70, and sit seven shots back of leader Daniel Berger.

Henley is two shots better in the first round than he was a year ago when he went on to win the tournament.

He had two bogeys and a birdie on the front nine, and tightened up with three birdies on the back nine. Scheffler: a bogey and two birdies on the front and the back nine.

The two tee off at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the third-to-last group.
