Henley off to nice start at Heritage
After the best Masters trip in his career, Russell Henley maintained a chunk of that momentum down the road at the RBC Heritage in Hilton Head.
The Maconite shot a 3-under 68 in the first round to settle in a tie for 20th with six other players, five shots back of leader Ludvig Aberg.
Henley has had three straight quality Heritage efforts, finishing tied for 19th, 12th, and eighth. That came after missing three cuts in four trips, from 2019-2022, with a tie for ninth in there.
He has made seven of 12 cuts at the Heritage.
Henley opened with two birdies, adding another on No. 8. He countered two bogeys with two birdies on the back nine.
Henley is in the top 15 in shots gained putting, driving accuracy, putts per greens in regulation, and feet of putts made.
He’s back at it on Friday at 9:45 a.m., playing with Xander Schauffele.
