Henley even through a round at Texas
There are traffic jams galore after a round of the Valero Texas Open in San Antonio, and Russell Henley is iht emiddle of them.
He’s among 23 players in the logjam at 79th, after the logjam of 19 players at tied for 60th, 1 under at TPC San Antonio.
Henley opened with a bogey, countered with a birdie six holes later. He did the same on the back nine, the birdie three holes after the bogey.
Mark Hubbard has the lead at 7 under, with four a shot behind. Another 16 are tied for 15th, and 15 tied for 31st.
Henley’s stats back up the so-so start. He’s 119th in shots gained putting, tied for 82nd in shots gained total, tied for 38th in scrambling 49th in shots gained around the green.
The Stratford grad tees off at 9:30 a.m. on Friday in hopes of avoiding missing his second cut in seven events. The cut is the top 65 players and ties.
