Big season for Mary Persons’ grad Christman at GSU

Brady Christman has some resume updating to do.

The Mary Persons alum is the Sun Belt Freshman of the Year while earning first tem at DH, and making the all-freshman team.

He’s the first GSU player since Chase Griffin in 2012 to be named the top freshman, and first in the Sun Belt era.

Christman was atop the Sun Belt in slugging, OBP, and OPS, and average (.384). He finished the Eagles season in the top 50 in Division I in those four categories.

He led GSU with four triples, and he had a 32-game on-base streak, and 23-game hit streak, fifth-highest in Georgia Southern history.

In 39 starts, he had 13 multi-hit games. He led GSU with 12 homers, second-most by a freshman in Georgia Southern history.

Top 5 outings for West Laurens, ACE, Hawkinsville at GHSA golf

West Laurens’ boys finished third in 3A with a 622, four shots behind champ LaGrange. Braceton Beasley tied with North Hall’s Tanner Seabolt for second, two strokes behind Saxton Chastain of LaGrange.

ACE Charter was fifth in Class A/Division I girls, 20 shots from fourth and 41 behind winner Banks County

Hawkinsville’s boys took fifth in Class A/Division II, nine behind Schley County, while Taylor County’s girls were fifth.
