Henley set for Rocket Classic in Detroit, and a busy month
Crunch time is here for the PGA Tour and Russell Henley.
The playoffs start on Aug. 13 with the Fed Ex St. Jude Championship, and Henley is in the two tournaments preceding the.
That starts this week with the Rocket Classic in Detroit, followed up by the Wyndham Championship in Greensboro, North Carolina.
This is only his second Rocket Mortgage Classic. He missed the cut in 2019 with a 75 in the second round, and tied for second in 2022 with a 16-under 272.
The tournament started in 2019, replacing the Quicken Loans National, which rotated courses around Washington D.C.
Henley tees off Thursday at 12:43 p.m. with Hideki Matsuyama and Ben Silverman.
He is No. 14 in the FedExCup rankings and fifth in the Official World Golf Ranking. Henley is also ninth in the US Team Presidents Cup ranking.
Henley ranks in the top 25 on the Tour in shots gained total, scrambling, putting average, and scoring averages, and bogey avoidance, among other categories, while ranking first in driving accuracy.
Stat show he’s good in the first round – 21st with a 69.44 average – and better in the fourth – fifth with a 68.3 average – with struggles in the middle at 85th and 74th (70.3 and 69.9).
